Frontiersman’s Daughter: Terrific Debut Novel

July 30th, 2009 1 comment

Just finished chatting with Laura Frantz, author of Frontiersman’s Daughter.  Her book is clearly written from her soul, eliciting all the nuances of living in Kentucky in the 1800′s..and rightfully so.  Her family can tie back to at least living in the area at the same time as Daniel Boone and they continue to reside there today! Through reading her book, I even found out the fringe on Daniel Boone wasn’t just for ornamentation, it actually wicked the water away from the jacket on a rainy day.  Who knew?!

“That Certain Spark” by Cathy Marie Hake

I always smile when it’s time to read and interview Cathy Marie Hake.  She always has a sassy character who usually has some quirky imperfection.  The best part is that the imperfections quite often match my own…grace is not my strong suit!

After sitting through several publishers  meetings, they’ve heard the cry for Amish Fiction, so there’s loads of new authors and books coming out for this coming fall and spring 2010!  Look for new author,  Kathleen Fuller, Her new series: Hearts of Middlefield.

Amish Authors, Kathleen Fuller,  Amy Clipston and Beth Wiseman are good friends and have developed an Amish info blog.

One Amish fact: When a barn burns down, everyone in the Amish community stops what they’re doing and everyone helps rebuild the barn all within 24 hours.
