One of the most important aspects of Christmas are the memories you create. You’ll probably forget what presents you received this year by February, except perhaps the long- awaited diamond engagement ring or a soldier returning home to their family…ahhh..but those are just a few memory makers of 2010! As we wind down from the hectic pace of buying and wrapping presents, take a few moments to enjoy some special Christmas memories from your favorite authors!

Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…

The Perfect Fit
Have you ever sat down to read a book because it just looks a
bit different? Such was the case with me and Charlotte Figg Takes Over Paradise. Admittedly, it’s a rare day when I pick up a book in the middle of a series, but there wasn’t a beat missed getting into the story and characters involved; it’s definitely a stand-alone. Charlotte decides, after her husband dies, that she’d like to move into what looks like a delightful trailer park with a wonderful name; so she buys the trailer sight unseen. It turns out to be a bait and switch; when she arrives at the Paradise Trailer Park, the trailer parked in her spot can only be described as an unlivable dump…and she’s spent all her money purchasing the trailer. Now what will she do?
This quirky, fun read also very gently delves into the issue of neglect and spousal abuse, which was a surprising twist amidst the trailer park group who decides to form a ladies softball league. Who’s their sponsor? a very surprising, very rich character that no one would suspect! Charlotte is forever baking pies, so don’t be surprised if you have a yen for apple crumb pie or peach cobbler as you read this delightful story. I can hardly wait to delve into Griselda Takes Flight from a very funny author, Joyce Magnin!
